If you would like to apply to be a volunteer at Saint Joseph Hospital or Saint Joseph East, you may call the Volunteer Office at 859.313.1290 and request that an application be sent to you or you may complete the application on-line by clicking on Get Involved.

If you would like to become a volunteer at Saint Joseph - Berea, please call 859.986.6535.

If you would like to become a volunteer at Saint Joseph - London, please call 606.877.6013.

Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Greet patients and escort them in the hospital
  • Assist staff on nursing units
  • Assist Chaplaincy Services with initial visits to acquaint patients with services offered and assist patients and family in the implementation of advanced directives
  • General office/clerical duties
  • Assist staff in the on-site daycare
  • Provide community service through the Mobile Clinic or Wellness Services 
  • Deliver patient mail and flowers 
  • Respond to patient requests for gift shop items, or other services 
  • Assist in the Emergency Department or Kid Traxx by relaying information to waiting families, escorting patients and serving as a host/hostess to visitors in the waiting room
  • Volunteer from home knitting or crocheting newborn baby caps

  1. the state of being varied or diversified:  We have all varieties of volunteers; everyone 14 years or older is welcome.
  2. a number of different types of things: We have a variety of assignment descriptions to match your particular interests, skills, and availability.

  2. capacity for survival or for the continuation of a meaningful or purposeful existence:  The vitality of our organization is partly because of great volunteers like you.

  3. a divine call to God's service or to the Christian life; a function or station in life to which one is called by God::  Our vocation of healthcare is exhibited through our mission of healing ministry and our core values.
    Volunteers at Saint Joseph make a difference in many areas throughout the hospital and community. Volunteer assignments are made according to interest, availability, and ability to fulfill the assignment requirements.
