Partners for Justice

Saint Joseph - Jessamine RJ Corman Ambulatory Care Center (SJJ) is now performing lab work on criminal cases for the Nicholasville and Wilmore police departments and the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office. This July, Saint Joseph entered into a formal agreement with the police departments to assist them in gathering evidence in cases. Prior to the partnership, police officers were spending anywhere from 90 minutes to four hours at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville waiting on necessary lab work. With SJJ being closer to home, in Nicholasville, officers can more easily bring individuals in and get quantities of what is in their system.

Letter to Saint Joseph East

To Denise Hundley, Administrator of Women’s Care
Service Line at Saint Joseph East,

"I would like to take a minute to let you know how incredibly pleased we were with Saint Joseph East during the birth of our son. I do hope you have access to our file to see exactly who worked with us because unfortunately I was unable to write down any of the names of the wonderful nurses.

I am so incredibly grateful for the care that each nurse showed us and the care they showed our son. We could not have been more pleased and comforted in welcoming our first child. I want to personally thank you and all the nurses and staff at Saint Joseph East that made the birth of our son and our hospital stay so enjoyable. If you ever need a personal testimony for any reason please feel free to contact us. I am so grateful and will be telling everyone just how great of an experience we had at
Saint Joseph East."

Special thanks to the Saint Joseph East employees
who cared for this mother and newborn:

Comments from Jeanetta Marcum's Nomination Form

Jeanetta Marcum, L.P.N.
ICU, Saint Joseph - London

The Dictionary defines a nurse as “a person formally educated and trained in the care of the sick.” As the 2009 recipient of the Daisy Award, Jeanetta Marcum embodies these qualities along with so many more. Jeanetta is a very caring and compassionate nurse. She is selfless and cares not only for her patients but for their families as well. Jeanetta is always found with a smile on her face and is willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Jeanetta is a busy mother of three boys who started her nursing career in 1987. Jeanetta began her career as a medical-surgical nurse before dedicating her profession to the Intensive Care Unit at Saint Joseph - London in 1989. Throughout her years of nursing, she has seen multiple changes take place in health care and has adapted to these changes. Although several changes have taken place, one thing has not changed: the dedication and care provided to her patients.

In addition to Jeanetta’s many professional accomplishments, she also has many accomplishments in her personal life. Jeanetta has been blessed with a family including her husband, James, and her three sons, Tyler, Ryan and Harley. Jeanetta finds time for her family life and is involved with her sons’ activities such as Tyler’s high school football team, Ryan’s high school band, and volunteering in Harley’s first grade classroom.

With over 22 years experience in nursing, Jeanetta has become a point of reference in the workplace. She is looked up to by those around her and valued as an excellent nurse and friend. Her work ethic, compassion and genuine personality are unsurpassed. These qualities are not only what defines Jeanetta as a nurse and mentor but they are the qualities that identify her as Saint Joseph - London’s first Daisy Award recipient.
