All Saint Joseph Health System employees with dependents are required to submit documentation to verify their eligibility before Tuesday, August 25.

Upcoming Changes to CHI Connect Screens and Logins

CHI Connect users throughout Saint Joseph Health System will soon see some changes in the look of the CHI Connect computer screens and will use a different password to log in to some of the CHI Connect tools. These changes are happening due to an upgrade of the infrastructure hardware that supports the CHI Connect tools in preparation for future software upgrades. Processes for completing tasks within the CHI Connect systems remain the same, and there are no changes to HR/Payroll Connection or Standard Time and Attendance. See the new look starting Sunday, August 16.

What will change?

Logging in
Starting August 16, CHI Connect users will have one less password to keep track of. Inside CHI passwords (network passwords) will be used to log in to both Inside CHI and CHI Connect. This means users will log in to Inside CHI, and then use the same password to log in to Requisitions, Invoices, Expense reporting, Accounting and Materials management.
CHI Connect user IDs are not changing.

Users of Accounting or Materials Management Links—Complete training to be ready
If you use the accounting or materials management links to the CHI Connect tools, you will see the most significant changes and can complete training to help you make a smooth transition. Training is available through LEARN until August 14 and will take about 30 minutes. While training is not mandatory, it will help you be prepared for the upcoming changes. Job aids will also be provided before the changes occur.

To access the LEARN course:
• Log in to LEARN
• Click on the Catalog tab
• Search for the course title: CHI Connect Accounting and Materials Management Navigation

Support is available
If you have questions about the new log in process for the CHI Connect tools, please contact your facility’s ITS Help Desk (866.236.0441 or for Lexington–ext. 2249). If you have questions about the changed computer screens, contact the appropriate support center.

Feedback

Letter to Saint Joseph - Mount Sterling

To Saint Joseph - Mount Sterling,

To all the techs, nurses, doctors and everyone that took part in my mother’s care. Words cannot express my gratitude for the special care she received while in this hospital. May God bless each of you because you have been a blessing to us. Parting is such sweet sorrow.
Thanks again for everything.

Letter to Saint Joseph - Martin

To Saint Joseph - Martin,

This was written by a patient to express thanks to nurses in OR and Med/Surg.

“I would like to thank Natashia and Samantha and let them know I appreciate them. They try to get you to think everything is funny so you are not so nervous. Great nurses.”

“I would like to thank Theresa and Amanda. They are always laughing with you, not against you, always lifting your spirits and trying to get you to think things aren’t as bad as they seem and they will sit with you as long as time allows. The nurses I just mentioned and Judy Spears deserve the Daisy Award.”

Comments from Diane Bowling's Nomination Form

Diane Bowling, RN
Emergency Department, Saint Joseph - Berea

Diane Bowling is an R.N. who has worked in the ED for the past 10 years. She is a TNCC Instructor and played a key role in instituting the Code Stroke/MI protocol/package to help increase response time for these critical patients.

She has always demonstrated how to be a strong and compassionate nurse who cares not only for the department as a whole but the patients who come through it. I am always surprised when I see her working at the depth of understanding and compassion she shows every patient she works with. The example that stands out most in my mind was a few months ago when a very young couple brought their five-week-old infant to the ER because it had been short of breath.

She immediately took note of the patient's condition and did not wait for a PA or doctor to come around. She got the doctor, she called respiratory, sent for the peds crash cart and began to do what she could to stabilize the patient. The patient had to be intubated and in order to do so along with starting the IV she had to squat down and hold the patient's head just so, a position that she had already been in while nebs were given and O2 set-up. It was a difficult intubation and extremely stressful situation but Diane held her position, her back to the parents, and never lost her cool.

She remembered that the parents were behind her and throughout the whole time she very calmly explained what was happening and how they were going to proceed in layman terms that they would understand. If she heard panic creeping into the mother's voice, just a few reassuring words from Diane kept her calm. Diane also had the presence of mind to ask a co-worker to call the chaplain in to give the parents extra comfort while waiting for the patient's condition to be stable enough to transfer.

She never forgot a single thanks for your help and the sweetest part of it all was how she kept talking, smiling, and reassuring the patient's four-year-old brother that everything was going to be fine, whom most of the other staff didn't or weren't in the position to notice. She followed up with patient and the parents after he was transferred and as always she truly cared about everyone not just the client. I truly hope that if ever I am in need she will be my nurse.
