Saint Joseph Breast Center Now Fully Digital Saint Joseph Breast Center now offers digital mammography at both of its locations in Lexington: Saint Joseph East Medical Office Building (160 N. Eagle Creek Drive, suite 101) and Saint Joseph Office Park (1401 Harrodsburg Rd., suite C-45). Digital screening mammography is offered at the Saint Joseph Office Park location and digital diagnostic and screening mammography is offered at the Saint Joseph East location. Studies have shown that digital mammography is significantly better than film mammography in screening women who are under age 50, or women of any age who have very dense breasts. Digital mammography allows improvement in image storage and transmission because images can be stored and sent electronically. Since data is electronic, it can be enhanced to increase the image quality, magnified to pinpoint specific areas, and/or manipulated for further evaluation. Saint Joseph Breast Center features board-certified radiologists Margaret O'Neill Brown, M.D., Marta Kenney, M.D., and Kimberly Stigers, M.D., and an all-female staff. Learn more at SaintJosephBreastCenter.org or call 859.967.5613. 2009 Kentucky Nurse License Renewal Period Kicks Off The 2009 Kentucky Nurse License Renewal period kicks off Wednesday, July 1 and continues through midnight October 31, 2009. Effective with last year’s (2008) renewal cycle, Kentucky nurses are being notified of license renewal dates through their e-mail of record, notification to stakeholder organizations and the KBN Connection. Renewal postcard reminders are NO LONGER mailed. Nurses who have not given KBN a valid e-mail address may do so at their Web site: kbn.ky.gov (click on “Credentials & Licensure Information” and “Address Change/Name Change”). You’re encouraged to maintain a current e-mail and mailing address with KBN. You will initiate online renewal using the last four digits of your social security number, license number and your date of birth. Details can be found on the KBN Web site. After you renew your license, you will not be issued a new license card. Permanent license cards were issued to all renewing nurses during the 2008 renewal period. Those nurses being licensed for the first time by examination, endorsement or reinstatement will be issued the newly designed, permanent card. Should you require a duplicate of the permanent license card issued in 2008 you may purchase one by following the directions noted on the KBN Web site. Lexington HR Staff to Relocate to System Office Effective Monday, June 29, several Saint Joseph Hospital Human Resources staff members will be moving to the same office building as the system office for Saint Joseph Health System. The system office, where many HR staff members will now reside, is located at 424 Lewis Harget Circle, near the Fayette Mall. This move will allow the hospital to offer HR’s current office space to physician practices, which better positions the hospital for growth. With the transition to CHI Connect last October, HR has taken on a more strategic role. Much of the department’s work can now be performed via the computer and telephone, allowing more efficiency in the delivery of service. HR will still maintain satellite offices located on the first floor at both Saint Joseph East and Saint Joseph Hospital, ensuring you continued HR support and leadership. Additionally, the HR Support Center is a great resource for a variety of HR questions, such as benefits, payroll, and Leaves of Absence. They can be reached at 1.888.450.9450. As always, your local HR staff will remain available at 859.313.1768. Letters from Patients To the 3B staff at Saint Joseph Hospital, "Thank you all for your kindness and help. You made things so much easier for me during [my loved one's] stay. Your caring ways and professionalism let me feel at ease when I wasn't able to be there. I knew that he was being given the finest care anywhere! I'd like to give each of you a big hug (and I've done that to many of you!). If I missed you please know that I'm hugging you in my heart. Most of all I'm praying for each and every one of you. May God continue to bless you and allow you to help every patient that comes your way." To the Med/Surg staff at Saint Joseph - London, A patient reports having surgery at Saint Joseph - London (SJL) and wanted to tell the staff what a wonderful job they are doing. She felt that the Lord had put it on her heart to call and let the hospital know everything during her stay on Med/Surg was wonderful. She has worked in several hospitals and SJL is one of the best she said. She has a lot of respect for the hospital and wants everyone to hold their heads up high. Great job Med/Surg! |
