By demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission's national
standards for health care quality and safety, Saint Joseph Hospital
and Saint Joseph East have earned the Joint
Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ once again!
The Joint Commission conducted unannounced, on-site evaluations of Saint
Joseph Hospital and Saint Joseph East on April 14-16 and June 2-4, respectively.
The accreditation award recognizes Saint Joseph Hospital's and Saint Joseph
East’s dedication to complying with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art
standards on a continuous basis. The re-accreditation is proof of an
organization-wide commitment to continuously raise quality and safety to higher
levels for the communities we serve.
The Joint Commission (TJC) is an independent, not-for-profit organization
that evaluates and accredits more than 19,500 health care organizations in the
United States, including hospitals, health care networks, managed care
organizations and other entities that provide home care, long-term care and
laboratory and ambulatory care services. TJC performs unannounced full hospital
surveys once every three years, with unannounced surveys conducted in between.
The unannounced surveys reflect TJC’s emphasis in recent years on hospitals
being in a state of perpetual readiness for visits from inspectors. The Joint
Commission is the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting
