Saint Joseph - London, formerly Marymount Medical Center, is a 89-bed general, acute-care hospital that provides a full range of medical, emergency, surgical and obstetrical services. Other services include respiratory and cardiovascular care, outpatient pediatrics, home health and hospice. The hospital's primary service area covers Laurel, Jackson, Clay and Whitley counties. Saint Joseph - London will be opening a brand new replacement facility in 2010 that will increase its bed capacity to 120 and will include all private rooms.
Visitor Limitation to Hospital Patients
During this flu season (which includes the new H1N1 strain of influenza), we are asking our visitors to comply with the following policy in order to protect the safety of our patients and employees.
- If you are ill or experiencing flu-like symptoms, please do not visit a patient or enter the hospital until you are symptom free. Similarly, please do not visit a patient who has flu-like symptoms until they are symptom free.
- Children and young adults are highly susceptible to the H1N1 virus. Therefore, we ask that children under the age of 18 do not enter the hospital. We will lift this restriction when it is determined that the threat of the spread of H1N1 has decreased significantly.
- Children under the age of 18 (and are symptom free) who are visiting a newborn sibling may visit the maternity unit. However, this visitation is restricted to the maternity patient rooms only. Nursery visitation is restricted to parents only.
- An exception to the above restrictions includes a visitor who is critical to the patient's emotional well being and healing process.

Study Ranks Saint Joseph-London #1 in State for Overall Cardiac and Cardiac Surgery 
A study issued today by HealthGrades, the leading independent healthcare ratings organization, finds that Saint Joseph - London is the number one hospital in Kentucky for Overall Cardiac Care and Cardiac Surgery and among the top 5 percent in the nation. The nation's nearly 5,000 nonfederal hospitals were all included in the sweeping study, which examined mortality rates and complication rates from government data from 2006, 2007 and 2008. SJL Named a 100 Top Cardiovascular Hospital
In December 2008, Saint Joseph - London was named a "100 Top Cardiovascular Hospital in the nation" by Thomson Reuters. Hospitals receiving this designation are setting the nation's standards for cardiovascular care. Thomson Reuters examined the performance of 970 hospitals by analyzing clinical outcomes for patients diagnosed with heart failure and heart attacks and for those who received coronary bypass surgery and angioplasties. Only one other hospital in Kentucky made this national list along with Saint Joseph - London.
