Target
Audience: This activity has been designed to
meet the education needs of physicians involved in the management and care of
patients with the potential of contracting community-acquired
pneumonia.
Need
Statement:
Saint Joseph Health System provides
quality care to its patients and partners with other agencies to monitor quality
of care and documentation of our quality care. The SJHS Quality
Initiative, like other CMS quality initiatives, consists of many facets.
Its goals are to improve the care provided by the nation's hospitals and to
provide quality information to consumers and others. Four core measure
sets were identified by the CME committee as part of the hospital and medical
staff's continual focus on quality: AMI, HF, Pneumonia and Surgical Care
Improvement Project (SCIP).
Program Overview: The primary objective of this
educational initiative is to provide clinicians in primary care with the most
up-to-date information regarding evaluation, treatment and prevention of
community-acquired pneumonia.
Objectives: Upon completion of
this program, participants will be more knowledgeable about:

and treatment of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP)

The resources,
tools and care processes available for the prevention of
pneumonia
