The Heart Institute provides cardiovascular services for the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disease. Our new Cardiac Cath Lab and Non Invasive Cardiology unit opened in August of 2009 with the latest technology available for both coronary and peripheral vascular interventions.
Our Cardiologists provide expert care with many years of service to the Lexington and Eastern Kentucky communities. They perform all levels of coronary and peripheral vascular intervention using highly specialized device therapies. In conjunction with The Women's Hospital, we also provide focused cardiac and vascular care for women. Special consideration of the factors that are part of the risk stratification for women, are essential for earlier diagnosis and treatment.

The Cath Lab at Saint Joseph East opened in 1985 in Humana Hospital Lexington. In 2009, Saint Joseph East opened the Heart Institute with a new Cath lab department and Non-invasive Cardiology services. The Cath lab contains 3 large procedure suites and a 12 bed recovery unit. We perform over 6,000 annual procedures.
