Saint Joseph's Mission of providing care for those in
need led to the development of the Appalachian Outreach Program. Each
year, thousands of discharged patients from 26 counties in Eastern Kentucky
receive follow-up visits or telephone calls from qualified caring
counselors. A full-time registered dietician also provides services to
seven of the counties served. The program, which won an international
award from the Catholic Hospital Association, also includes Fayette County
cancer and cardiac patients. For more information, call
